20 MMscfd Grass Roots Gas Plant
Caber was responsible for the complete EPCM of a 20 MMscfd grass roots gas plant, including the gathering system and wellhead facilities. Overall facility cost was $25 million.
Compressor Unit Cooler Modifications
Caber inspected the original multi-stream engine jacket water and auxiliary water cooler system in order to resolve insufficient cooling for the compressor resulting in engine shutdown due to high ambient temperatures. A second fleet cooler was installed in parallel with the existing cooler. The second cooler was used to off-load the heat duty from the existing engine cooler by approximately 30%. An electric motor was also installed on the fleet cooler. |

Condensate/Oil Pump Addition
Caber installed a permanent condensate/oil pump at an existing facility that consisted of inlet gas separation and a compressor station. In addition the following tasks were undertaken: installed metering devices; designed and installed HMI graphics; provided a back pressure control valve; added a recycle line to accommodate an upset condition or temporary shutdown at the facility; modified the operation/ controls and piping system of the two inlet gas separators and added an equalizing line for produced oil for the two inlet separators in addition to modifying current piping systems.

Steam Separation Optimization
The Client’s facility in northern Alberta was converted from a conventional oil refinery to an oilsands refinery. Steam generator production was injected into the distillate stripper where the condensate was used as a distillate fractionating heating medium. Condensate entered the distillate fractionating tower where it was mixed with condensate produced from the low pressure steam.
The process needed new steam separation equipment on existing steam generators to reduce the boiler feed water and the total dissolved solids carryover to the process steam piping system. The project encompassed nine separators with inlet and outlet isolation, bypass valves and drain lines. All Client issues were addressed efficiently to meet the Client’s project timeline particularly scheduling milestones. |

Waskada Pipeline Project
An existing 6” oil transmission pipeline from a pump station to an oil shipping terminal required repair and upgrade work due to several corrosion locations.

The LDS was comprised of five automated ESD (Emergency Shutdown) valve stations installed along the pipeline right-of-way. Engineering and procurement services provided included mechanical, electrical and instrumentation. Construction obstacles were resolved efficiently, enabling the Client to meet projected timelines.
Sour Multi-phase pipeline installation
Caber provided project management and design of a sour multi-phase pipeline installation in order to meet additional capacity, also an upgrade to the existing control system was necessary.
The new pipeline connected two facilities over 4.6 km transporting multiphase condensate/sour gas located mainly in populated areas, crossing 22 existing facilities such as pipelines, power lines, cables, creeks and roads. Pigging facilities were also included at each end with Emergency Shut-Down (ESD) valves. The control system was modified to provide remote shut down of the shipping terminal and pipeline giving the Client enhanced process control and generally improving Public safety.
